Improvements to battery technology will be key for various sectors, including for the electrification of mass market electric cars and multiple electric vehicle applications. The development of advanced and next-generation Li-ion technologies will also be critical for battery companies aiming to succeed or maintain their place in the market. Innovation in Li-ion technology includes the development of silicon-based or lithium-metal anodes, ultra-high nickel cathodes, cobalt-free and high-manganese cathodes, the use of carbon nanotube additives, the ongoing development of solid-state batteries, optimisations in electrode structure and cell design, through to developments in pack design and battery management systems. Ultimately, there are multiple to routes to improving key battery performance metrics.

This webinar will introduce and unpack some of the key innovations under development for Li-ion batteries. Drawing on content from the new IDTechEx report, "Advanced Li-ion Battery Technologies 2024-2034: Technologies, Players, Forecasts", this webinar will cover:
  • Next generation anode materials such as silicon, lithium and anode-free designs
  • Innovations in cathode active materials and their manufacture
  • Important cell and pack design changes and trends
  • Key cost and resource consideration from advanced Li-ion battery chemistries
  • IDTechEx's outlook for advanced Li-ion technology
