I really like this hairstyle that I found. You used to give the cutting instructions, but I don't see them listed anywhere now. Can you give me the details of how to achieve this cut. I have it saved as a favorite so you will know what cut I'm referring to. Thanks, Christina.
Hi Christina, all of our styles come with styling steps and a hairstyle description which lets you know info about the particular cut. We've always provided this type of information (sorry, we have never provided actual cutting instructions as haircuts should always be performed by a professional), and you will be able to find this information in the Virtual Hairstyler. Just simply load the hairstyle that you like and then move your mouse over your photo. The control panel will then appear below your photo and you can click on the "Style Guide" to get the styling steps and the hair icon to get the hairstyle information. What is the best way to go from blonde highlighted hair back to my natural brunette? Thanks!
Hi, thank you for your question. If you'd like to go back to your natural brunette color after being a blonde then you can either have your hair colored, or allow the blonde highlights to grow out. Growing out a color can be a long process and you will have to put up with re-growth and a hair color that looks uneven for quite a few months. If you choose to color your hair back to brunette, then we recommend seeing a hairstylist, (at least for the first color job) who can take a look at the condition of your hair and recommend the right process and hair color that will cover up the blonde and achieve the level of brunette hair color that you want. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
Hi, I don't really know which shape suits me and I can't make up my mind on which hairstyle suits me. Could you please help me? I like spiky casual hairstyles. I'm totally lost as there is a lot.
Hi, it's looks like you have an oval face shape so quite a lot of styles will suit you. I recommend using our hair consultation again, this time entering oval as your face shape, and then trying on the recommendations given. The only true way to know if you'll like a style is to try it on your photo to see how it looks against your face. Good luck and have fun! Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
Hi, how do I define what is the hair color which is best suitable for me?
Hi, if you're unsure about what hair color will suit you then I recommend giving our Find My Perfect Hairstyle consultation a go. It can be found at this link: http://www.thehairstyler.com/hair-consultation and will ask you questions based on your own personal attributes to help work out what is the right color for you. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
My hair line is bald and l need a hairstyle that will cover the baldness and l don't want a hairstyle that will make me feel hot in the head because I am planning to go to a very hot place. My face is oblong shaped and I am dark in color. What type of hairstyle can l try?
Hi, if you're unsure about the type of hairstyle to try then I recommend giving our Find My Perfect Hairstyle consultation a go. I have a normal face but a slightly pointy chin, and big eyes. I don't have a high forehead though. My hair is wavy and it looks horrible short, I'm trying to grow it out again. Should I get bangs? The kind I want are longish ones (google "fauxlivia").
Hi, the type of bangs that you want will require you to straighten your wavy hair everyday, so you must keep that in mind when considering bangs. To know if the bangs will suit you, I suggest trying on a hairstyle that features similar bangs to see if you like how they look on you. Hannah Simone has long full bangs: Hannah Simone, as do many of our other celebrity hairstyle options. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
Hi, my name is Christian, I'm a guy. Can you help me with my face shape and my hairstyle problem? I just recorded this lately: length = 8.5, cheekbone = 6, forehead = 5.15, jaw = 5. I believe that I have an oblong face shape. My hairstyle that I have is wavy. Can you help me?
Hi Christian, I recommend taking our easy face shape quiz. Measurements for faces can be unreliable as it's hard to accurately define where to start and end a measurement, so we suggest using easily identifiable features instead, and our quiz will ask you about those features. Once you know what your face shape is, use our hair consultation to find the right hairstyle. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
Hi, I really cannot decide whether my face is oval or oblong, Could someone help please. Will be much appreciated.
Hi, if you're confused about your face shape then I recommend taking our easy face shape quiz at this link: http://www.thehairstyler.com/features/articles/hairstyles/face-shape-quiz. It will ask the questions about your face that only you can answer to help work out what is the correct shape. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
Hi, I'm planning on getting a haircut this weekend and I want to change my style a little bit, but I'm having trouble finding a style that will look good on me. I have dark brown wavy hair that's long, an oval face shape, and a somewhat-long forehead. I want to keep my hair long, and I've thought about getting bangs. I always get my hair feathered so it frames my face and I part it on the side, but I've found that the shorter sections of my hair get in my face a lot when I get it cut this way. I'm afraid though, that if I get the shorter sections cut to make side-swept bangs, they'll curl up and be difficult to control. Any suggestions? All help is appreciated :-)
Hi, if you're unsure about the type of hairstyle to try then I recommend giving our "Find My Perfect Hairstyle" consultation a go. It will ask you questions based on your own personal attributes to help work out what is the right style for you. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
Hello, I have an appointment to get my haircut on Saturday and I'm trying to decide on whether or not I should get bangs. I've wanted to try the side-swept bang look for a while now, however, my hair elasticity is wavy. I think getting bangs would compensate for my long forehead and I know how to control my hair's waviness, but I'm concerned that if I get bangs, I'll regret it because they'll curl up and be difficult to handle. What would you suggest I do in this situation? Thanks! :-)
Hi, thank you for your enquiry. First, to see if bangs will suit you, I suggest finding a hairstyle with the bangs you like and trying it on your photo. This will give you an idea of how you may look with bangs and can sometimes be enough to make the decision for you. Second, understand that bangs can take work, especially for those with wavy hair. You will most likely need to straighten your bangs everyday or every second day depending on the strength of your wave in order to have your bangs sit properly. If you are willing to put in the styling effort required for bangs and like the way they look on your photo, then they are a great option to try. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
I think I have an oval face and have looked through 100's of styles and still cannot find one to suit me. I seem to be drawn to the same ones. Could you please advise me on a style? I only have 8 months to establish a new style for my sons wedding.

Hi, I have found some gorgeous hairstyles, one in particular in makeovers, the bob with length in the front and bangs. I am a heart shaped face with long bra length wavy hair. I am thinking of cutting my hair for my son's wedding, which is in Fiji in September this year. Being a heart shaped face, should I have bangs or leave my fringe long swept to the side? I do have a small face and was wondering if having bangs would suit or not. I'm 50yrs old with light skin, light to medium brown hair (colored because I'm greying on top) and 5ft 2. Your advise would be very appreciated as I'm not sure which type of bob to go with. Kind regards, Debee4u :)
Hi, bangs that suit a heart shaped face are long bangs with some height or long side-swept bangs. As for a bob, make sure it's either a chin length graduated bob or a texturized bob with volume. Stay away from a bob with blunt cut bangs or a slicked down bob as they will only work against your heart face shape. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
Hi, I have fine-medium wavy, dryish fly away, medium length hair. I alternate between perming it and straightening it to get some control. It's better (more weight) for a few weeks after dying but I don't want to dye it too often - I would prefer to keep the greys hidden longer with streaks/highlights rather than putting dyes into my body. I use/try pricey salon products to try and get definition and style but it doesn't seem to make a lot of difference except if a lot of time is put into styling it which I simply can't do most days. My hair hates humidity, air conditioning and changes in temperature. Seems to be getting worse as I get older. I like a more casual style but also needs to be OK for business. Do I have to bite the bullet and go shorter?
Hi, going shorter will give the illusion of thicker hair. You will also benefit from shorter hair as this will mean cutting off ends that are dry and broken. There are short hairstyles that are versatile enough to be worn in a business environment or as a low-fuss everyday style. Constant perming, straightening and coloring of the hair will dry out your locks, so if you still feel the need to go through with these chemical processes, it's best to not do them so often. Also remember to use a shampoo and conditioner for chemically treated hair. I recommend booking an appointment with a stylist so they can assess your hair personally and give you the best advice with a face to face consultation. I hope this has been helpful. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
I am thinking about cutting my hair a bit shorter..but I am in doubt about which shape my face is. I am thinking oval, but not really sure. Hope you might be able to help.
Hi, after you find out your face shape with ourface shape quiz, I recommend viewing our short hairstyles and seeing which styles suit you best, based on your face shape. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
I am 52 and my hairline is receding BADLY due to hormonal changes and stress. I need a hair style that will suit me with no bangs, I look terrible in bangs. I always had great hair but now it has no lift --even using a volumizer. It is pretty thick but just having this receding hairline on the sides. When I wear it off my face, it is less noticeable but then my wrinkles show! This aging is really stressing me out. I have copper gold hair with highlights and it is medium length now. It gets a wavy frizz unless I blow-dry and even then not too good these days. I was thinking of cutting it really short---which I wore for 10 yrs in the 80's, but want to be stylish and hip still. Don't want to turn into a middle age woman. HELP!
Hi, it sounds like you could benefit from our Hairstyle consultation. It will ask you questions based on your own personal attributes to help work out what is the right style for you. After you've used the consultation, try on some of the recommended styles using your photo so that you can get an idea of how you might look, and so that you know for sure that the style won't age you. Good luck! Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
Hi, I have this problem about my hair. I want to make my hair straight again. I chemically curled my hair 2 weeks ago and I want to straighten it again. I just wanna ask how many months do I have to wait to have it straightened again? Do I have to wait months or not? Thank you.
Hi, you don't have to wait months to have your hair straightened again, however, you do have to get your locks as healthy as possible as straightening is another chemical process which will weaken the strands and cause breakage. Use some nourishing hair treatments, and when you feel that your hair is as healthy and as strong as you can get it, get it straightened. Or you can blow-dry your hair straight for a couple months until you have grown a couple of centimeters out from the root, that way you won't have to apply straightening cream to your roots and risk further hair damage. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
I am losing my hair in clumps of 10 to 20 strands of hair. What is the best product to use on my hair to help? I am now taking vitamins to help with this also...I added more vitamin B and biotin to my daily regimen. I have long, colored, wavy hair and I am 40.
Hi, while some daily hair loss is normal, if you're concerned that you're losing more than expected, I suggest you make an appointment to see a trichologist. They can examine your scalp thoroughly to assess the hair fall and possible causes, they should also be able to give you an accurate solution and recommendation of products to use. Nowadays, there are lots of products marketed as being suitable for hair loss and hair fall. The only way to know if they are right for you is to give them a try. You might also like to try the tips in the following article: http://www.thehairstyler.com/features/articles/hair-care/hair-fall-and-hair-breakage-tips. I hope I have helped. I'm in desperate need of help. I have shoulder length kind of a straight/square, haircut - no layers. Have been coloring my hair for quite some time. My problem: very thick, dry, frizzy, bushy hair. Even after a couple of keratin treatments (home products - can't afford the sky high salon prices), my hair is not shiny nor smooth. There is no movement, and when I go to the beach, I'm ashamed to come out of the water because may hair becomes a ball of fuzz! Please help, short of shaving off my hair, I don't know what else to do. Thank You!
Hi, the best advice I can give about looking after your hair and stopping the frizz is that you will need a very good shampoo and conditioner for dry/frizzy treated hair, a heavy treatment that can be applied to your hair once a week, a moisturizing creme that can be applied every day, and that when straightening your hair, you use a straightening product before and after any heat appliances. Also, try if you can to not blow-dry your hair everyday as this will dry your hair out even more and cause more frizz. Consistency is the key - keep using the treatments every week and you should see an improvement. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
What shape is my face and what style and length do you think I would look good in? Also bangs or no bangs? Thanks Cindy
Hi Cindy, you can work out your your face shape with our our easy face shape quiz. Then you can view this article "The Right Bangs For Your Hair Type And Face Shape", and search for bangs on our site and see if they suit you, based on your face shape. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
Hi there! I have hair that is medium thick. I tend to roller set it over night, which results in tons of curl and width. I don't oppose curls but I am wondering if there are hair brushes that can turn tight curls into long waves? Do you know brushes that can do this, or can you point me in the right direction.
Hi, thank you for your question. Any brush will turn curls into waves. Opt for natural bristles and use long even strokes from root to tip to get the best results. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
Hi. I am looking for a new cut/style for my hair. Currently it is permed and usually parted right down the middle, a little longer than shoulder length, one length with the exception of a little layer. It is thin & fine. I have a large nose so I do not like short hair and do not wear my hair up unless I am home. I am also tall, long face, mid 30s and thin. I need something easy that can be styled in a matter of minutes. Do you have any ideas or suggestions? Thank you.
Hi, I recommend giving our "Find My Perfect Hairstyle" consultation a go. It will ask about the texture of your hair, if you have any chemical processes in it, what your current length is, what length you'd like and if you have features such as a large nose. When all of your info has been entered, it will then give you hairstyle ideas. I hope it helps! Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
Hi, can you help me determine my face shape? I think my face length = width + 0.4 of the width. I'm not sure if it's oval or oblong. Also, can you recommend a good short/medium haircut that flatters my face shape? Thank you so much for your help. Have a nice day!
Hi, using our face shape quiz and the info you've provided, your face shape is oval. For suggested hairstyles with your oval face shape, try this article: Oval Face Shape - Hairstyles That Suit You. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
Hello, my hair color at the moment is light brown (permanently colored) and I want to make it the color that Ashley Madekwe has. Can you tell me what color is this? Thank you very much.
Hi, thank you for your question. Ashley Madekwe has a rich chocolate brown hair color. To get an exact match, we recommend taking a picture of her color into your salon and asking your hairdresser to match it as close as possible. Depending on your current hair color and the condition of you hair, this might be an easy change and fabulous result, or it may not be possible. The best way to find out, and to get the exact results that you want, is to seek the help of a professional. Good luck! Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
Hi, please help me understand 1) my face shape. It looks like oval/oblong. 2) I tried the perfect hairstyle consultation but I have no idea what skin color to put. I was told that I have a cool skin (between ivory and olive with green undertone). It looks a bit sallow sometimes. What should I chose? Thanks a lot.
Hi, the following will help you to work out your face shape and skin tone. 1) Face shape Quiz 2) Choosing Your Skin Tone and Enhancing Your Hair Color. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
Hi, I have naturally curly hair which can look very messy at times. My natural hair color is black and I recently got an Ombre hairstyle done. My hair was bleached and it's very dry on the ends. I would like to know what products I can use on my hair for it to look shiny and natural, to maintain my color and let it look good without ironing or blow-drying. Thanks x
Hi, as a hairstylist it is hard for me to correctly assess a problem without being able to view the texture, tone, elasticity and condition of a persons hair and other factors up close, so I would suggest seeing a hairstylist in person as they will be able to personally advise you on the best products for your hair and the best course of action in this case. Thank you. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
Hi, I have an oval face with a tan complexion, and just about shoulder length curly hair that is medium brown in color. I have been growing it out from a pixie type cut. I styled it straight every day in the past, but I live in a hot and humid area and usually before long it would end up half straight and half curly (not a good look). I would like to embrace some of the curliness - I lean towards liking the loose wave. If you could suggest some advice on a cut/style and maybe some good products, it would be great. I have tried many salons and have only found a few that could deal with my hair and see what it could be. I am desperate to have a somewhat easy and sexy style. Thank You! I don't mind doing a little work to get the style but really need it to basically stay the same throughout the day.
Hi, I recommend using our "Find My Perfect Hairstyle" consultation to find wavy/curly hairstyles that will suit your current length and texture. In regards to hair products, as a hairstylist it is hard for me to correctly assess what will work for you without being able to view the texture, tone, elasticity and condition of your hair and other factors up close. If you've found salons that work for you, I would suggest going back and asking a hairstylist in person for advice on the best products for your hair. Thank you. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
I have a lot of questions actually. 1) Is it bad to shampoo your hair everyday? 2) I have short straight hair about Justin Bieber's length and I want to put it up with a natural look, any product suggestions? 3) What are good affordable salons in New York City? 4) When I get a haircut should I thin my hair or leave it thick if I want my hair up like Justin Beiber?
Hi, thank you for your questions! To answer them: 1) Shampooing every day can strip away the natural oils in your hair, but how good or bad that is all depends on your own individual hair. If washing every day doesn't dry your hair out or make your hair hard to handle then it's find to wash it every day. If washing every day does make it hard to style or control your hair then wash every 3 days instead. 2) The products you'll need will all depend on your natural hair texture and what it works best with. See a hairstylist who can look at your hair in person and make some recommendations. 3) See our salon listings: http://www.thehairstyler.com/salons. 4) Again, seeing a hairstylist in person is the best way to get your answer. They can look at the natural texture and thickness of your hair and let you know if it will need to be thinned or left alone to achieve the hairstyle that you want. I hope I've helped! Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
Hi, I have a very big forehead and I was wondering what's the best way to make it seem smaller? I have tried the side-swept bangs but my hair does not follow the style very well. Also, what would be the best way to grow out my hair? I have tried waiting it out but it seems like as time passes the less it grows.
Hi, to flatter your forehead, side-swept bangs is a great option, but if they don't work well for you then you can also consider blunt bangs that cover over your forehead. Other options also include using a deep side hair part that will allow your hair to flow across your forehead when you style it. As for growing out your hair, the only option is to wait it out. No product will help to grow your hair faster. I hope I've helped. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
I was wondering what the best type of hairspray and also heat spray is, and I want to do something different with my hair but I don't know what to do? It's naturally wavy but I straighten it a lot, but recently my split ends were so bad from straightening it that I had to cut three inches off my hair. I like short hair but want long hair to curl it for formals and homecoming. It is a little longer than shoulder length, just a little, and I have a super round face! Thanks so much!
Hi, the best hairspray and heat spray is the kind that is suited to your hair type. If you have fine hair, for example, look for hairspray and heat spray products that are designed to work with fine hair. As for a new type of style, have you used our hair consultation yet? It will allow you to choose your current length, face shape etc and then suggest hairstyles that will suit you. You can find it here: http://www.thehairstyler.com/hair-consultations. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
I am a plus size girl with very fair skin and blue eyes. I have tried every hair color from blond to red and all in between with various highlights. My most successful cut was an inverted bob, which I wore in differing lengths for over 10 years. I loved it, but was missing my longer hair and my hubby was growing tired of the long/short look as well. So, it has now grown out past my shoulders, but is so fine and thin it is just a flat mess most of the time. I usually wind up with it in a ponytail before lunch time! Styling time is getting longer too! I feel the need to simplify my routine! I want to get it cut.... possibly even pretty short. Think Lisa Rinna, but shorter in back, but I am so scared! I don't want to make my chubby round face look ANY chubbier! Any suggestions would be great!
Hi, I recommend trying some hairstyles from Lisa Rinna and seeing it they suit you. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
Hi, I'm a male and I have medium length curly hair. After showering and using my conditioner my curls are very nice, but after they dry up. My hair becomes more like a ball around my head and my curls join together and it does not look good. Any suggestions on how I can keep my curls just like after the shower?
Hi, the best advice I can give about keeping the definition and condition of your curls is using the right products. You'll need a shampoo and conditioner for curly hair types and a curl enhancing product that can be applied to your hair after washing it to keep your curls in place. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
Hi! My hair is damaged and I wonder if I'm using way too many products. I try to be careful as much as I can with it. I only dye it every 2 or 3 months and never blow dry or wash it too often... still, my hair is incredibly damaged. Here is a list of the stuff I put on my hair: - Shampoo (of course), I wash my hair every other day and use just a little bit. - I use hair mask once or twice a week, and the other days I use conditioner. - A repairing product for damaged ends. - Another repair product spray for rest of my hair. - A leave in conditioner. In the days that I don't wash it, I put some hair oil in the ends to help control the frizz. Sometimes I wonder if this is way too much stuff to put on my hair and could be one of the causes of so much damage, even though I just apply a tiny bit of each. Thank you for your attention!
Hi, thanks for your question. As you haven't specifically talked in depth about the kind of damage your hair is experiencing (is it dry, frizzy, breaking etc), I can't offer advice about that, but I can let you know that while it's important to use nourishing products regularly, it is also possible to overuse these products and cause damage to your hair. I recommend getting a good detox shampoo and adding that to your routine. It will strip out any residue from the products that you've been using and help your natural hair oils to balance out. I also suggest laying off the hair products when possible and giving your hair a break for a few days every now and then. If you're particularly worried about the damage, seek the advice of a hairdresser in person so that they can look at your actual hair, assess the damage and offer advice about what you can do. I hope I've helped. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
Which hair color can I use? Please give me suggestions.
Hi, if you're unsure about the shade of hair color to try then I recommend giving our "Find Your Perfect Hair" consultation a go. It will ask you questions based on your own personal attributes to help work out what is the right hair color for you. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
When I wear my hair down in a middle, side or any part, my hair always falls into my face. How can I style it with a blow dryer or straightener to keep it away from my eyes?
Hi, thank you for your question. If hair falling in your face is a problem then you'll need hairstyles that keep your hair strands out of your face. Pinning your hair back into a half up half down hairstyle or pulling it into a ponytail or bun are great options to consider. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
Can you help? Early last year I had a course of chemotherapy for breast cancer, and I'm now taking anti hormone treatment to prevent its return. One of the side effects is hair loss & my hair was already fine. Do you have any advice to counteract this problem as I am advised that I need to continue the hormone therapy for 5 years!
Hi, I suggest that you make an appointment to see a trichologist. They have the knowledge and expertise to examine your scalp and hair thoroughly, to assess any potential problems, and to give you the right advice for your situation. Good luck! Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
Hello, can you please suggest some tips to make my hair grow faster? I need it to grow about 3 inches by December. Is it possible?
Hi, unfortunately there are no miracle creams or lotions that will force your hair to grow faster or longer in a specific amount of time. The time it takes for your hair to grow is based on your own individual genetics and cannot be altered by any product or specific hair tips. The best thing that you can do is look after your hair with regular treatments and trims so that it stays healthy as it grows at its own rate. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
I did the questionnaire and I'm still not sure what shape face I have. I think it is oval, triangular or square. Can you look at my picture and tell me? Thanks, Mary.
Hi Mary, oval, triangular and square faces are all very different shapes so I can understand why you may be confused. As requested, I've looked at the photo in your account and can confirm that your face shape (based on the photo) is actually heart! Check out the characteristics in the following article: http://www.thehairstyler.com/features/articles/hairstyles/heart-face-shape-characteristics. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
I'm currently using hair wax to hold my hair up, but I don't like the fact that it makes my hair super sticky. It also only lasts a few hours. Do you recommend any good hair product that will hold my hair up for a whole day and give it that natural look? I tried gel but it makes it look wet and I don't wanna make it look wet. I have my haircut short all around and medium length on the top.
Hi, there are some styling product lines that boast a natural finish so keep an eye out for them. In regards to a product that gives all day hold- gel and wax are your best options. If you don't like the finish given then the only alternative is trying different brands to see which formulations you prefer. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
Hi, I am a teenage girl with an oval face and straight hair just-above shoulder length with lots of layers. What would be an easy-to-do elegant hairstyle for me to wear to homecoming? My dress has bare shoulders with a sweetheart neckline. Thanks!
Hi, I recommend giving our "Find The Perfect Hairstyle For Your Next Event" consultation a go. It takes all of your features and personal attributes into consideration and makes recommendations about the hairstyle that you should try. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
I recently bleached my hair about 5 months ago from burgundy to platinum blonde, amazingly my hair didn't fall out because I bleached it a lot. Last month I tried to go lighter and my hair started falling out where my roots ended. My hair is very unhealthy and has broken off so much in the back that it is only about 2 inches long. I have naturally wavy and thick hair. I need to get it cut short but I want to grow it out fast. The front is still medium length. What do I do?
Hi, unfortunately there are no miracles for undoing the damage that has already been done to your hair. The best advice I can give about looking after your hair is that you will need a very good shampoo and conditioner for chemically treated hair, that you should try a heavy treatment in your hair once a week and a moisturizing crEme every day. Try not to color your hair as often and try to give your hair a little holiday from chemicals. There is nothing that can be done to make your hair grow faster as it will grow at its own rate regardless of what products are applied to your hair. I also recommend seeing a hairstylist in person who can see the damage up close and advise you about the right cut while growing your hair longer. I hope this advice helps. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
Hi, I would like to have a suggestion for a nice, short (but won't go way above the chin), edgy hairstyle (I'd say something close to emo hairstyles). Actually, I just want to see lots of big layers on my hair with side bangs. I'm an Asian, my current hair is shoulder length. I'm a bit confused with my face shape...not sure if it's square or triangular, short neck, (slightly) protruding ears, small and narrow eyes, I often get a comment from other people that my face is small, yet I feel like my head is big/wide, my hair is fine and sparse, and straight, so straight it's flat on my head and although it's fine and sparse, it feels heavy like the gravity is always pulling my hair down, giving me a really hard time to style it so it would have an illusion of volume. I liked this one as suggested on your site, but not sure if my hair can handle it: http://tinyurl.com/8gqjrps What do you think?

Can you recommend a shorter hair style with bangs that looks somewhat feminine but is not too difficult to style? I do have some length right now, so if you can recommend a longer style with low maintenance I would welcome that as well.

I would like my hair curlier all over, but my stylist doesn't seem to have heard of root perms or stacked perms. Don't you approve of perms? Do you know of special perms like this?
Hi, a root perm will only add volume to your hair so that your hair has more body and will only last as long as it takes for your root area to grow longer. If you want curly hair all over then you will need a traditional perm. Any type of perm will cause damage to your hair because of the chemicals involved, but if you are willing to accept this and to look after your hair with regular treatments then there's no reason why you can't enjoy a perm. If you feel that your hairdresser cannot give you the perm you wish then the best option is to find one that will. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
Currently, my hair length is a couple inches past my shoulders, I have thick brown hair, naturally a bit wavy. I am looking to cut my hair very short, hoping something like the hairstyle Ginnifer Goodwin has right now. I have a round face similar to hers, I am also half-Filipino with a tan/olive complexion. What are your thoughts? Thank you.
Hi, I would suggest that you try the Ginnifer Goodwin hairstyles (http://www.thehairstyler.com/celebrity-hairstyles/ginnifer-goodwin) that we have available on in the virtual hairstyler and see if you like the way they look on your photo. It will at least give you an idea of how you may look with the style. Ginnifer's short styles are suitable for round faces, and naturally straight hair. If your hair does have a bit of a wave to it then you may need to factor in some styling time when considering any of her looks. Good luck! Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
Hi! I am currently in a debate with myself when it comes to cutting my long, wavy, thick hair into layers. My main concern is asking the stylist to cut my hair in a particular style. The style that I am gravitating to is this: http://www.thehairstyler.com/hairstyles/formal/long/wavy/paula-abdul I don't have a side or back picture of this style, and I would like to know in general, would this be a problem for my stylist? Thank you! P.S: Does hair cut better when it is wet or dry. Double thank you!
Hi, that cut shouldn't be a problem as the long layers are cut evenly all through the back and the sides. But remember, cutting long layers into your locks does not mean it will sit as pictured. That particular hairstyle requires styling time and products to look the way it does. In regards to your other question, hair should always be cut wet when using scissors. Only clipper cuts can be cut on dry hair. I hope I've helped! Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

I have an oval face, but I have also the aging chin and neck which I am trying NOT to accentuate. I would love to grow older gracefully. Probably I need to send a side picture for this question. I KNOW the best way for me to solve part of this issue is to loose weight, but at 60 I am not sure that will solve all of my problem. Is there a style that will "probably not camouflage my neck issue, but at least NOT accentuate it.

I have uploaded my picture which is not very good. I need hair help. I have went to 4 hairstylists and no one will cut my hair short. I have thick, thick, thick hair. It is very smooth and will not hold any curl. I realize I have a short forehead and a round face. I always pull my hair back in a ponytail or behind my ears. I cannot stand it in my face. This is why I want it short. It will be out of the way and hopefully easier to style when I need to or at least will have style and I don't have to spend forever on it. I have looked at many hairstyles and can't find one that has all my hair types. Do you have any thoughts or ideas? I am lost and can't find any answers. Thank you. Beth.
