Hair Color

I have sort of 2 colors in my hair. On top it is like a brown and everything else is like a dark blonde. I have had my hair colored and highlighted before and would like to have all my hair one color (blonde) with maybe some highlights to break up the color. Any suggestions? I am not exactly sure what my natural haircolor is. When I was little it was all blonde but as I got older it sort of became a mix of the two colors with the brown on top and the blonde on the length throughout.

Hi, if you'd like a natural looking color that's the same throughout your hair then I would recommend seeing a hair colorist, especially if you'd like blonde hair and highlights - which can be hard to pull off at home. Having your hair colored at the salon means you'll end up with a natural, even result that looks like the exact color that you want (at home kits are notorious for giving you a hair color that looks nothing like the box), and you'll also get the right color for you as a hair colorist can take a look at your skin tone and give you options that will look the best on you. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hair Color

I have a lot of red/pink in my face. I assumed a red hair color would clash with my complexion, but it appears that I look better in some of the reds than I do in any other color except for maybe an ash brown. All the advice I have ever read says that if you have a ruddy complexion, you should stay away from red hair color. I would love to try red, but it's still hard for me to believe it won't look awful.

Hi, while a red hair color can highlight the pink tones in a ruddy complexion that doesn't mean that you can't try a red hair color. A ruddy complexion is a cool hair color, and cool red hair colors such as copper blondes, or neutral red colors such as darkest red and dark red will suit. If you're worried about which color to go with, book an appointment with a professional who can look at your skin tone and offer the right advice about which red hair color you will be able to pull off. Hair Styling

Hi, I'm not sure what face shape I am and also I want a good suitable style for my wedding. I have researched face shapes and am a bit confused about whether my shape is oblong or square or round? Also, the hair on the back of my head is excessively dry and "crinkly" and impossible to keep shiny and smooth. I have curly hair and it's very thick and heavy. I would love some advice on the best product to give it shine and smoothness. I have tried numerous things and I don't mind spending money if I need to.

Hi, if you're confused about your face shape then I recommend visiting our hair consultation page. It lists the characteristics of each face shape, which should help you to narrow down your shape. If you can't decide between a few different ones then go with the face shape that most resembles your own. As for hair products that will make your curly hair shiny and smooth, I recommend asking your hairdresser the next time you're in the salon as they can see your hair up close and personal and offer the right advice. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Haircuts

Is there a short hair style that will look good on me?! I'm a female that's looking for sort of a boyish haircut. I'd like to cut it real short but am not sure what will look good. I have a round face and am sick of the everyday ponytail. Please help.

Hi, for your round face shape, a short hairstyle with plenty of height through the crown will compliment your face, giving the illusion of a longer face shape. Remember, round face shapes need to add height not width so stay clear of hairstyles with layers that flick out. I hope I have helped with your question. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hairstyles

How can I find a perfect hair cut for me?

Hi Kevin, to find the perfect hair cut, add your details to our hair consultation. It'll give you hair cut ideas based on your own face shape, age, hair type, hair texture and hair length. It can be found in the makeover menu at the top of this page. Kind regards, THS Hair Consultant.

Hairstyles

I have short, thin, very fine hair that is very dark brown/black with probably 60% gray. I also have a thyroid condition which is affecting the texture of my hair to the point that if I start out straight, it almost wants to wave at midday and if I start out with curls, it goes lank and hideous by midday. I would like to have a straight cut that is blow & go with no "pouf" and without having to use a lot of styling products. My stylist always wants to do a "punked out" do that I cannot replicate at home and frankly don't have the time or the want to. She is adverse to anything flat. I am very busy and the easier the style is to maintain the better. Also, I would be open to adding some of my natural color back in but my stylist insists on using the frost cap which gives me very uneven color and I have never liked it when I've had it done. When I've asked about doing the color with foil, she always has some excuse as to why we cannot do that. Any suggestions, besides switching stylists (family, you know, although I am a paying and good tipping customer). Thanks a bunch!

Hi, it sounds like you know exactly what you want so I would recommend either telling your current stylist exactly what that is, or finding a new hairstylist who will give you the style and look you want. There is nothing wrong with wanting an easy, low maintenance style that's right for your hair and needs, or going back to your natural hair color. If your current hairdresser cannot do this, even when you are a paying customer, then a new stylist is what you need. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hairstyles

Hi! I've had the same hairstyle for what seems like forever. I'm a 28 year old mom to two small children. My hair is long, with a lot of layers in it, and it is very thin, I just have a lot of hair. I've always had my hair highlighted blonde. I have a very long face, so I've always wanted to distract from my jawline. But, I'm eager for a change...I keep saying I want to go dark and short...but I don't want to hate it, because it has taken me forever to get to this length. What should I do?

Hi Emily, first, I would recommend that you use our hair consultation to find some hairstyle ideas that will be suitable for your hair texture and for your face shape. Then I would try those hairstyles on with your photo in our Virtual Hairstyler. That way you can see how a style might look on you without the risk of cutting or coloring your hair into a look that you'll hate. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hey. Uhm, I'm about to go to high school and I need a new hairstyle. I can't decide a hair cut. because I might pick the wrong one. I don't know what hairstyle would fit me. Can you give me some choices?

I have thin, semi-wavy hair that's shoulder length. I also have an oblong face and cowlick/widows peak. If you can, please help me find a style that looks good on me with a simple styling method. I'd really appreciate the advice. Cindy

Hi Cindy, to find styles that will suit your oblong face shape, thin, wavy shoulder length hair, and for advice about cowlicks, I recommend trying our hair consultation. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hair Color

Hi! I am having trouble figuring out what my skin undertone is: cool, warm, or ruddy? I always thought that since I have freckles and my natural hair color is reddish, I must be warm. But, the veins on my wrist are blue and I noticed on the test here that you can also be ruddy which is cool undertones with freckles! I am so confused! I posted a gallery on my profile page with several pics of me with my natural hair color and a few others. Can someone please tell me what my coloring is. Also, I (and my hubby) want to try going very blond. I don't know if that is suitable for my coloring though and if so, which shade and how bright can I go? As a child, I was a "tow-head", I had very blond hair. It changed darker as I grew older. Thank you so much! Sherrie1984

Hi Sherrie, judging by your photos and the description you've given, I'd say that your skin tone most resembles ruddy. If you have freckles, pink undertones (which are obvious in your photos) and blue veins then a cool, ruddy complexion seems most likely. Seeing a hair colorist in person can of course confirm this and also give you a definite answer. As for wanting to try a blonde hair color, having a cool complexion means that light blonde hair colors such as platinum and light ash blonde will suit you. Ask the colorist when you see them what they would recommend is a good color against your skin tone. Seeing a professional, especially when going blonde, means that you can also have the color tailored to suit you. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hair Color

I have dark brown hair and am wanting to go to a light blonde. I have currently blonde highlights and like the color but wonder if all blonde would be a good choice.

Hi, if you want to know how you'd look as a blonde then I recommend adding your photo to our Virtual Hairstyler and seeing how you would look with some blonde hairstyles. It's a great risk free way to try out another color without having to touch your hair. If you still can't decide if blonde would be a good look for you then I also recommend taking a trip to a salon and speaking to a hair colorist in person as they will be able to take a look at your skin tone and let you know if a blonde hair color is right for you. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hair Styling

I am 34 years old and I suffer quite badly from premature graying. I'm constantly coloring the roots. It makes me feel extremely old and it's a very pronounced stripe through the center part of my head. I have been contemplating embracing this and going white on top, layering through to my black underneath. I just want your opinion on whether a very light ash blond would hide this better?

Hi, to answer your question, yes, a light ash blond would hide your gray better so if you are happy with this coloring option then I say, go for it! Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hair Styling

Hi. I am 35 and have long brown hair, the length is probably below my shoulder blades. I have bangs as well. I have been trying to decide if I should grow my hair longer or if I should cut it and I would love your opinion. I also have a lot of grey coming through and would like to have it colored as well and am unsure what to go with. Help!

Hi, if you're not sure about going with a new hair length then I recommend uploading your photo to the Virtual Hairstyler and trying a few different lengths on. You'll be amazed at the difference some hair lengths will make to your features and doing it risk free on your photo means you won't have to live with a wrong hairstyling decision. As for color, there are plenty of options for covering up grays so ask your hairstylist what they recommend for your current hair condition and complexion. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hair Color

I am a guy with medium length hair and wanting to grow it out to be longer lengths of 5 - 6 inches (it is 3 - 4 inches now). When I get the longer length, I want to do a relaxer to have my hair somewhat straight and more manageable (it is thicker in texture). I also want to get highlights for the summer. Is it safe to highlight now and then get relaxer in another 2 - 3 months after that, or will the relaxer affect the highlights negatively?

Hi, it is safe to relax your hair a few months after getting highlights, but how it will affect your highlights all depends on the state of your hair after the 2-3 month break between the processes. Please keep in mind that the more chemicals you use in your hair, the more brittle and weak your hair will become. I would recommend using a hair treatment every week before having the relaxing process done so that your hair is as healthy as possible. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hairstyles

Hi, I'm after a hairstyle that will make me look older. I'm sick of constantly being perceived as younger than I really am (I'm in my mid 20s) and the condescending treatment and lack of respect and constantly being overlooked that goes with it. FYI I am a petite Asian woman cursed with a round face that is hard to find a hairstyle for, complete with lots of puppy fat and the most pinchable cheeks in existence. Please suggest me some hairstyles that will make me look more mature and make my face look more angular. I work in a male dominated field so I'm not really looking to soften my look. My preferences are something short (nothing below shoulder length) as anything longer would overpower my petite frame. It also has to be suitable for a professional setting, so nothing too wild. Though I'd also like it to be versatile for both formal and casual occasions, so nothing too 'done up' either. I have flat pin straight hair that has no natural wave whatsoever and laughs at a curling iron. It's also very thick, coarse and generally resistant to styling. I also wear glasses. A short styling time would be nice too, as I get up very early for work. Though I'm in my mid 20s, I'm open to more mature styles, I need all the help I can get in looking older. Thanks!

Hi, for the best way to find out which styles will suit your hair type, hair texture, face shape, glasses and other preferences and attributes, I'd recommend that you give our hair consultation a try. It will allow you to select all of the characteristics about your hair that you've mentioned, put in your preferred hair length, and then receive hairstyle matches from our library that you can then add to your own photo to see if they will suit you. Give it a try today! Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hairstyles

Hi, I am looking for a new hair style. Right now my hair is between my shoulder blades. It's the longest it's been for a long time. I kinda do like the length, but could go a little shorter. I have very thick hair and it is naturally curly, but I also like to wear it straight. I am overweight so my face is pudgy and would like something that thins my face a bit. I am 45 and would like something age appropriate. Any ideas?

Hi, for hairstyle ideas based on your face shape, hair length, texture and age, I would recommend trying our hair consultation. It can be found in the makeover menu at the top of this page and will allow you to select all the personal attributes you've mentioned (and more) to find the right hairstyle for you amongst the choices in our range. Give it a go today, and good luck! Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Haircuts

Hello, I haven't cut my hair in almost 15 years. I am 47 and finally want a change. I have extremely thick course hair that is actually kinky wavy at the very top of my head, but gets looser as it gets closer toward the ends. When my hair is wet, it looks like I would have really pretty curls, but when my hair dries, it looks frizzy and unruly, so I always just pull it back in a barrette to get it off my face. I don't comb it or it would really get poofy. Right now it is 2 inches below my shoulder so the waves are more stretched out. I have a heart shaped face with a wide nose and pale complexion. I found a couple of medium short haircuts that kind of look like a shag I like in your virtual hairstyle section, but am afraid my hair will be really crazy out of control if I cut it into short layers since my waves are kinky tight at the top. I am tired of looking like I am in grade school. Any suggestions.

Hi, I'm glad to hear that you have found some hairstyles that you like with our Virtual Hairstyler and can understand your hesitance about knowing whether or not cutting your hair will help or hinder your curls. The truth is, without being able to see your curls in person, I can't give a definite answer either way so I suggest that you take the styles that you have found to your hairdresser and ask them to asses the haircuts and advise you whether or not they will work with your curls. Curls can be both a blessing and a curse, and no matter the type of hair cut or your hair length, will require you to put in some effort in regards to styling and using styling products if you wish to have a hairstyle that looks great and eliminates the puffiness. I hope I've helped. Good luck!

Hairstyles

Hi, I have long, very fine hair and not all that much of it! It is difficult to style as it is so fine and it has been pretty much the same length since I was a small child! I really want a big change and love the pixie crop that Emma Watson has recently had cut. However, since I have never cut my hair even as short as a bob I am nervous about whether or not a similar cut would suit me or my hair type. I tried the virtual hairstyler but couldn't find a suitable cut. Can you give me any advice? There are a couple of photos here if it helps! http://www.thehairstyler.com/chocnutty/galleries/3952 Thanks

Hi, from seeing your photos it's looks as if you have a heart shaped face which can suit certain short styles which have volume through the crown and wispy edges around the face. To find the right short style for you, I would recommend giving our hair consultation a try. It will allow you to select your face shape (make sure to read the face shape info provided to confirm your shape) and that your hair is fine so that you can find styles in our library that match. I also recommend taking a look at the following article for ideas on the types of styles to try or to avoid: "Heart Face Shape - Hairstyles That Suit You". I hope I've helped. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hair Styling

Hi, I have medium length, straight highlighted hair which needs re-doing. At the moment my problem is that I like my hair to have plenty of movement, so I use my heated rollers each day to give it body. At the moment my hair is improving in condition which results in it being lank and difficult to curl. I sometimes have a body perm for highlighted hair which enables me to get the look I like. However, the condition suffers and I'm unsure what is best to do to achieve the look I think suits me best. Perhaps it would be best to revert to my natural mousey color (40% grey) and go for the perm? I would appreciate your advice.

Hi, it sounds as if the heated rollers are working well for you as they are giving you the look, body and movement you're after. Using heated rollers will not damage your hair as much as the chemical process of a body perm, and if you're going to be regularly highlighting your hair, then adding the perm process will damage your hair even further. You have said that your hair condition is improving after taking a break from perms so I would suggest sticking with the heated rollers instead of going back to the perming process so that you can get the look that you know suits you, as well as the color you want, without having hair that feels like straw. If you'd like more oomph from your heated rollers then use them with volumizing products such as mousse to add body. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hair Styling

Hi! so my hair takes FOREVER to grow and right now I have really really short hair and I would like to have past the shoulder length hair by September. Any suggestions on how to make it grow quicker? Thanks!

Hi, on average, hair grows at a rate of one-half of an inch per month and unfortunately there is not a lot that can be done to speed this process up. Making sure you have a healthy diet and that you look after your hair can help as healthy locks are less likely to break. Even when growing your hair you still need to get it trimmed regularly to ensure that when you get to the length you want, your hair is strong and looks good. See your stylist once every 2 months for a trim on your ends. For more advice, check out this article: "Growing Your Hair". If you really can't wait for your hair to grow then hair extensions can be a good option. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hello, for months I have been looking for some hairstyles, but I can't make a decision about what hairstyle is best for me according to my face. Please help me.

Hi, if you're after a hairstyle to suit your face shape then I recommend using our hair consultation. It will allow you to select your face shape and other personal attributes such as your hair length, type and texture to find hairstyles that will suit you. Hello, I am a retired hairstylist and I do my own hair and I was wondering what is the easiest way to go blonde at home? I am a medium brown. I do a level 5 mocha brown on my hair that is faded now. I've done the blonde chunks before and everyone loves them, but I think I just want to go all blonde now. Can I get it an arctic blonde without bleach these days? I realize I would need a toner.

Hi, in order to go blonde at home after being a mocha brown you will need to bleach or shampoo bleach the brown out until you lighten right down to a 9 or 10 base. This may take you a few gos until you reach the level of lightness needed to get to an arctic blonde. Good luck! Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hair Color

I dyed my hair about a year and a half ago and have been trying to get it back to its natural color by dying since then and I was wondering if stripping my hair of all the dye by a professional would damage it?

Hi, having the color stripped from your hair will cause damage, but you can manage the damage with follow up care such as regular hair treatments and good conditioners. Your hairstylist should be able to recommend products when you go in to have your color stripped, so make sure to have a chat with them about the type of hair care you'll need to do to get your hair back into good condition. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hairstyles

Please help me choose a new hairstyle for 11 year olds. I need a long or medium, straight hairstyle. Thank you.

Hi, if you're after a hairstyle that will suit your age and is a certain length and hair texture then I recommend using our hair consultation. It will allow you to select your age and other personal attributes such as your hair length, type, texture and face shape to find hairstyles that will suit you. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hair Products

Hi, I just recently got my hair stripped and its dried out. What are the best conditioners that don't cost a fortune for me to use?

Hi, the best hair conditioners to use all depend on your hair type and the condition that your hair is currently in. Because I cannot see your hair up close, it is difficult to recommend any specific products, so I suggest seeing a hairstylist in person so that they can look at your hair and offer you the best advice. Thank you. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hair Color

So I'm about to be 18 and my hair is natural black, never dyed it before, and I would like to dye it for my birthday. My skin color is cool dark and my eyes are black. I was thinking of dying my hair a burgundy brown (dark brown that looks red in the light). Do you think that will be a good color for me or what color do u think I should go for?

Hi, yes a burgundy brown would suit your cool dark skin tone. Other options to consider based on your skin tone would be blue black, darkest red, dark violet and darkest brown. I hope you enjoy your hair color change! Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hairstyles

My hair is naturally straight and when I curl my hair the curl doesn't stay. Is there a product or anything I could do to get the curls to stay?

Hi, to get any style to stay in your hair it is important to use the right styling products. For curls, try using curl enhancing styling creams and serums before curling, and then plenty of hairspray or setting lotions after. Curls require heat to form the curl, but they also require cold air to set the curl so if you're using hot rollers, allow them to cool in your hair for as long as possible to make your curls last longer.

Haircuts

Hello! I'm 12 years old and I want a Justin Bieber haircut: http://www.thehairstyler.com/mens-hairstyles/casual/short/straight/uniform-layered-hairstyle. What do I have to tell my hairstylist to get that haircut? I'm too shy to tell my hairstylist that I want the JB haircut. Please help me! Marko.

Hi Marko, the best way to let your hairstylist know what style you want is to print out the picture using our print function and take it with you when you go to the salon. That way your hairdresser will know exactly what you want!

Hair Styling

I have fine thin naturally wavy hair. I have it colored and trimmed every 8 weeks. I have been growing it out for about a year now which is currently shoulder lenghth. Here is my question, I am really struggling with my hair breaking! If I pull my hair up or back in ANYTHING, it breaks. I use both shampoo and conditioner for damaged hair. Is there anything I can do to thicken and strenghten my hair?

Hi, the best advice I can give about stopping the breakage is that you will need a very good shampoo and conditioner designed to limit hair breakage (check with your salon or your local supermarket), a heavy treatment that can be applied to your hair once a week, and a moisturizing creme that can be applied every day. Also, when styling with heat appliances always use heat protection products and try to limit heat styling as much as you can. Hair that breaks needs lots of TLC and nourishment so a good hair care routine that is followed regularly will help. For ideas, check out this article: "Daily Hair Care Routine in Six Easy Steps". Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hair Color

I have ruddy but fair skin, blue eyes, and dark blond hair. I'm not sure if my skin is cool or warm, but know my foundation has no pink in it, more yellow tones. I like my hair cut and have been getting professional highlights but want to try on brown for a while. My natural blond is dark, dishwater, but with gold highlights in the sun, and seemingly colorless inside. Currently I have lowlights and highlights. My question is if I want to dye my hair brown, how do I know what tone will look best on me?

Hi, based on the information provided and after looking at your picture, I'd say your complexion is 'peaches and cream'. This is a warm skin tone and will work well with colors that have a warm overtone. Anything from light brown to darkest brown will suit you, so I suggest trying on the warm brown hair colors in our Virtual Hairstyler (each color is listed as warm or cool or both when you hover over the color squares in the color chart). After narrowing down your choices with your photo, visit your hairdresser for a final, personal assessment on the right brown hair color for you. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hairstyles

By uploading my picture can you help determine what kind of haircut/style better suites me?

Hi, adding your photo to your account will give you a better idea of which style will look good on you and which ones will suit you based on your face shape and other attributes seen in your photo. Once you've got your photo upload, I recommend trying our hair consultation to find the perfect style for you! Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Haircuts

I have found a couple of styles that I like. How can I tell my hairdresser how to cut it in the style I choose? Do you have instuctions on this site that aids hairdressers for particular styles?

Hi, the hairstyle info listed with each style includes information that any hairdresser will find helpful. Also, taking a printed picture of the style that you want (just use the print function available) will allow your hairdresser to see the exact type and style of the cut that you choose so that they can re-create it for you. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hair Styling

Hi, can someone please help me determine what shape my face is. I believe it to be oval but it may be oblong. I want to get a hairstyle consultation but it says to make sure I choose the right shape. Thanks so much.

Hi, after looking at your photo I would recommend choosing the oblong face shape when completing our hair consultation. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hairstyles

Hi there, I do seek assistance with a suitable style. I am 60 years young and I have strong thick hair which I have worn in a bob style with a side fringe for many years. I like the fullness that the thickness gives me and I like a straight, bouncy look. My hair does have a natural curl to it hence the reason to keep the one length bob style. After washing I set my hair on big rollers and let it dry naturally. At the salon of course the stylist is able to blow dry it full, straight & bouncy for me. As I have a natural concentrated grey patch in the front of my hair (about 1.5ins from the hairline on the left) about an inch in diameter and about 40-50% grey all over I do have my regrowth coloured (light brown) and various ash blond highlights throughout. However the grey patch is noticeable to me even within about three weeks. My face is rather long and too thin but small in features probably oblong in shape. I need a change and while a layered cut might overcome the long, draining effect on my face I think I would have to compromise the full & bouncyness of my thick locks, which I don't want to lose. Can you suggest a style that I might be able to go to which will give me a new and lively look but gracefully retain my mature years?

Hi, I would recommend trying our hair consultation. It will allow you to specify your face shape, age, hair length, type and texture etc and then recommend styles in our library that will match those characteristics. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hair Styling

My hair is very fine and straight. I currently have a short/medium length cut with lots of layers and flipped out. I am very physically active and have an extremely busy schedule. I am thinking about growing out my hair to shoulder length (or just past). I would like a cut that requires minimal styling in the morning. However, I do need to look professional for work and I am worried about the growing out process. What do I need to know about hair extensions? I am worried my hair will get heavily damaged in the process, which would defeat the purpose of using them to help with the transition.

Hi, hair extensions are very high maintenance and can cause damage to your hair so I would not recommend using them if you are after a low-maintenance look while simply just waiting to grow your own hair longer. Although waiting for your hair to grow to a certain length can be quite frustrating, there are plenty of hair styling options that you can try that are low-fuss and professional. For advice about hair extensions, I recommend taking a look at the following article: Hair Extensions. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hair Color

Hi, I have a light olive complexion but now my hair is mostly grey/white with very little of my natural dark brown left. I am trying to pick a good permanent hair color that isn't too dark (because the regrowth shows in a week). I am using a level 6 dark golden blonde/dark neutral blonde now and I love the color because on top of my natural hair it always looks like I have highlights, but the color makes my skin look washed out. I hope to keep the "highlight look" so I don't want to go muck darker if possible. What options whould you suggest for me and other women like me?

Hi, instead of dark golden blonde, I would recommend that you try using just dark blonde, which will have more depth in the color and not make your complexion look so washed out. It will also blend in better with what's left of your natural hair color and will still give you the highlighted look on top of your natural grey hair. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hairstyles

Hi - my hair is just to my shoulders. I would like a style that looks good on me that doesn't require a lot of work. When I am at work I am sweating a lot and my hair will not hold up. Any suggestions?

Hi, I recommend giving our hair consultation a try. It will allow you to choose specifics about yourself and your hair and then recommend styles in our library that will suit you. You can use the consultation as many times as you like so try as many options as you can and have fun with it!. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hair Color

I dyed my hair with a pre lighter a few weeks back and now the roots of my hair are yellow and the ends are a gingery colour. I was wondering what blonde hair dye I should now use ? I wish to go a very natural blonde, basically a dark blonde. Thank you.

Hi, for a correct assessment, the best advice I can give is that you see a hair stylist in person as they will be able to see what the tone and and condition of your hair is up close and give you the best course of action for achieving the color that you want. Hi Hairstyler, I am need of a makeover, please help! I have long thin blond hair with highlights and green eyes. I just started a job in real estate and I am getting comments that I look too young to be working but I am 25. I have gone black before which I sort of liked because my eyes stand out, but at the same time I looked like a ghost. I would like to have a professional style that makes my eyes stand out and I think I have a round face (I feel I have chubby cheeks) so I want a style that reduces my checks. Thanks!

Hi, I would recommend that you try our Find Your Perfect Hairstyle consultation. It will allow you to add your green eyes, thin hair and your age (as well as other important attributes), and help you to pick the right face shape so that you can find hairstyles that will suit and match your features. Good luck! Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hair Color

I have spent hours trying on the different hairstyles on your site and could not find a cut that I thought looked good. I have decided to leave my hair as is and try a color wth highlights but I don't know what color fits me best. I have up-loaded a picture on my account and have several images in my Favorites with color combinations that caught my eye. Do any of the colors seem to work for me? I like the colors on the first image (short cut) but am not able to determine what colors are being used. Is there a place on your site that will indicate the color of the hair? Thank you.

Hi, I've taken a look at your favourites and think that the darker hair shades of brunette and red are the ones that suit you best based on your complexion in the uploaded photo. The color combinations that you have saved are the original colors of the celebrity or salon image used to create the hairstyle so we do not have any indicators on the site that will let you know the exact color. If you print out the favourites you like best and take them to a hairdresser, however, they should be able to match the colors for you and let you know for sure which color combination will work for you by looking at your complexion and hair condition in person. Hairstyles

Hi, I'm a 15 year old guy, and I've been struggling to find a good style for myself. I have kind of short, EXTREMELY THICK, dry hair that I like to run my hands through on a regular basis. I'm looking for something that is relatively low maintenance (I'm willing to put some work into it) I want it to be able to get wet and come out looking relatively the same as it did dry. I like having bangs about to my eyebrows and have it long on the top but i want the rest of my hair pretty short (almost buzzed) on the sides and the back. This was and could still be the look I'm kind of going for http://www.sickchirpse.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Justin-Bieber-Haircut-2011.jpg And before you say it, yes I realize it's Justin Bieber, and as much as I hate to ask for it, that's exactly what I want and I've had that haircut in mind for a while now. I would like some tips on how to style it. What gels, shampoo and conditioner I should use etc. Thanks.

Hi, I'm glad to hear that you have found a style that you like. Taking a picture to your hairdresser is the best way to get the exact look that you want and you should not be embarrassed that it is a celebrity style. In regards to styling your hair, for the best advice and results, I recommend asking your hairdresser when you go to get the cut as they will be able to see your hair up close and in person and can let you know what type of shampoos and styling products will work for you. Hair styling products work best when they are matched to your hair type and texture, and without that information, I am hesitant to recommend anything and think the best course of action is to ask for product advice and styling tips when getting your hair cut. Good luck! Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hair Color

I recently had my hair dyed. Previously I was a dark blonde with lots of bright highlights and I wanted to go to an all over light brown. Well the salon did my hair but it came out an Auburn brown and I am really not crazy about the red. I was hoping for a more golden look. What are my options to tone down this red?

Hi, if you're not happy with a color job done at a salon then I recommend going back to the salon and letting them know that you wanted a more golden brown look. A good salon should be more than happy to discuss the options with you, and as they can see your hair color and hair condition in person, they will be able to give you the best advice in regards to achieving the color you want and toning down the red. Good luck! Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hair Color

Hi, I am unsure of what my skin tone is and what colours will best suit me. I like having dark hair but I also like having it lighter aswell. What would suit me best, all over colour or highlights? I also want to try going red but am unsure of what shade to go.

Hi, I would recommend taking a look at the following article which can help you decide on your skin tone: Choosing Your Skin Tone and Enhancing Your Hair Color. Once you've decided then our hair consultation will allow you to choose your skin tone and then recommend colors which will suit. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

I have split ends and haven't found someone to cut it. What can I put on my hair to make my hair look better until I find someone?

Hi, the only way to take care of split ends is to have them cut off as no amount of hair product will repair the damage. I recommend finding someone to cut the splits ends as soon as possible, as the longer split ends are left, the further they will travel up your hair shaft and cause more damage. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hair Styling

I am really confused about my face shape. Can someone please look at my photo and help me?

Hi, based on the photo in your account I would say that your face shape is oblong. For more info about your face shape and what hairstyles will suit it, please take a look at this article: Oblong Face Shape - Hairstyles That Suit You. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hairstyles

Hi, I have been struggling with my hair for years. I am 29 years old, I have thick, long and straight dark hair. My problem is my low forehead, no hair style seems to suit! I also have a double crown. Please can you recommend some hairstyles/cuts? Thanks.

Hi, I would recommend that you try our hair consultation as it will allow you to choose your personal features, such as your forehead and double crown and find hairstyles that will suit. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hairstyles

I am 59 years old and have always had very fine hair. Over the course of the years due to health related issues my hair is now also very thin. My mother's hair is the same, so I'm sure there's an hereditary situation as well. I'm very careful with my hair. I don't use any products to weight it down and have it trimmed every 6 weeks. Right now it is about shoulder length with some long layers in. I'm looking for a new hairstyle to "mask" the thin-ness, particularly on top. Is there any style that will help?

Hi, I would recommend that you try our hair consultation. It will allow you to choose your fine hair texture and age plus other features and receive hairstyles that will suit. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hair Color

Hi, I have a lot of grey coming in and am getting tired of getting my roots done as it grows out too fast. What do you recommend for this? Should I get grey highlights through my hair? My hair length is below my shoulders with long layers and no bangs.

Hi, if you want to keep covering your grey hair then unfortunately dying your roots is going to be part of your hair color upkeep. In regards to highlights, they will grow out just as quickly as your roots do so they are not an ideal solution. I recommend having a chat with a hairstylist in person who can see the level of grey and the condition of your hair up close and can then advise which hair colors you can try that will help to camouflage your grey, even as your roots and color grow out. If you're willing to let the grey take over then they can also advise you on the best way to do this and what color tones you can try to compliment a full grey hair color. Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.

Hair Color

I wanted to do highlights and washed my hair with water and not shampoo. The result was that my hair was weakened and destroyed with a lot of breakage (I tried to cut as much hair off as I could). After that the first color I did was good from the roots to the ear level, but not through the ends. The 3rd time I colored my hair it was kind of good, but after the second wash, the color in the ends faded. Is the only way to fix it by cutting my ends or by getting a hairdresser's help to make the color stay?

Hi, I would recommend that you do see a hairdresser in person as they will be able to assess the actual damage to your hair, suggest a hair color that will hold, and give you salon quality highlights which will make a big difference to the fading you've been experiencing. Good luck! Kind regards, Serah Schuster - THS Hair Consultant.
